A ladybird stood on my car window today while going to work and it took me back 25 years to my school yard when we used to have our ladybird stories as a gift for those who get high marks by the end of the year.. I always wondered about this insect and wished to see it as i spent years contemplating the little red thing with spots on its back on the cover of my childhood books. It was a childhood dream that came true in my late 30's and it felt so good :) Dreams never die, we may live them someday.
but do you know the story (the superstition) and have u whispered the Ladybird Lullaby for her to go:
ReplyDelete"Ladybird, ladybird, fly away home
Your house on fire, Your children all roam
Except little Nan, Who sits in the pan
Weaving her laces as fast as she can
Ladybird, ladybird, fly away home
Your horse on foot, your children are gone
All but one, and that's little John
And he hides under the grinder stone
Lady-bird, Lady-bird, fly away home
the field mouse is gone to her nest
the daisies shut their sleepy eyes
and birds and bees are all at rest"
:)
